The Weekend Review - December 31st-January 2nd

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone has a great 2023!  I'm writing this on New Year's Eve and we have nothing planned for tonight.  We'll be home having a quiet NYE.

I finished the year on a good note.  I went over my Goodreads goal and finished a few books this week.  Some are shorter than others, but I did enjoy them.  I always enjoy holiday books and I tend to read them any time of the year.  Since I love series books, often I'll get to a Christmas book in the middle of the summer.

I'm pretty much all organized for my 2023 reading or at least through January.  I'm hoping to have a better handle on things than I have in the past. I want to catch up on my NetGalley and Edelweiss books before getting more.  Let's see if I can stick with that.  LOL

I'm planning to start the new year reading a new cozy mystery with a cat on it 😀  I have to start the year off right 😁

I hope you all have a great week and Happy 2023!

I finished reading ...

I'm planning to read one of these next...

Here are this week's Kindle freebie haul. They were freebies when I got them, I don't know if they still are. Always make sure to check they are still free before buying. The prices change quickly.

  2. Starting off the year with a cozy mystery with a cat on it? That sounds lovely!

    And to celebrate the new year...
    Here's a bit from a lovely old (1850!) poem:

    "Ring out the old, ring in the new,
    Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
    The year is going, let him go;
    Ring out the false, ring in the true...

    Ring out a slowly dying cause,
    And ancient forms of party strife;
    Ring in the nobler modes of life,
    With sweeter manners, purer laws...

    Ring out false pride in place and blood,
    The civic slander and the spite;
    Ring in the love of truth and right,
    Ring in the common love of good."

    And a toast: Here's to a year of wonderful reads and small joys!

  6. We had a very quiet NYE, too... seems like we've gotten into that habit over the past few years. Hope you have a good week and enjoy your first book of 2023. Happy New Year!

  7. Hi there Yvonne!

    Happy New Year! My next read this week somewhere will also be Dial M for Meow! I take it you are on the blog tour as well?

    I see you've shared some free books, I've read and reviewed A Cat's Guide to bonding with dragons, it was quite fun.

    I also plan on being way more organised this year. Edelweiss never ever accepts my requests, but I have a few Netgalley outstanding ones as well.

    Have a wonderful new year Yvonne!

  10. Hmm, I tried to post, but didn't see it pop up. Love the Sara Ney book, hope you have a happy new year! I also made a DNF shelf on Goodreads for the books I bail or don't finish. That way it helps me keep track there too.
