The Weekend Review - September 2nd-4th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to Stacking the Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

It was a week of doctor appointments for me.  Turns out I will need more surgery in a couple of months.  I'm trying to put all of this out of my mind, but it's hard.  I'd rather just sink into some good books.  So, that's what I'm trying to do.

I only finished one book this week and it was a good one.  I'm currently reading another good cozy mystery.

I'm enjoying the series The Way Home.  Very good and I always like Andie McDowell.  She's good in everything she does.

The weather remains hot and humid here.  We were fortunate that the hurricane missed us.  I hope all those effected by it are okay.  My heart goes out to everyone suffering.

I wish you all a good week.

I'm reading...

I finished reading ...

These are the books I'm hoping to read in September.

Here is this week's Kindle freebie haul. They were freebies when I got them, I don't know if they still are. Always make sure to check they are still free before buying. The prices change quickly.

  1. Good luck with everything, and glad the hurricane missed you. It's scary all the storms out there now.

I love the cover of Andrews' book.

  2. I'm sorry the surgery news isn't what you wanted. Take care of yourself, and I hope you have a good week. :)

  3. Good to hear that the hurricane missed you!

  4. Enjoy your reading, I like that Elizabeth Pantley's series. I'm sorry about having to have the surgery, sending healing thoughts your way.

  5. I'm sorry that the doctors have decided you will need more surgery in a few months. I hope you are able to think about and focus on other things in the meantime. Books are usually a good distraction for me.

I'm glad the hurricane did not hit your area. Here's to cooler weather soon.

  6. Sorry to hear that your going to have to have more surgeries but getting lost in some good books sounds like a good idea!
Glad you didn't get hit by the hurricane!

Have a great week and happy reading!

Wishing you a happy reading week

  8. Glad to hear you didn't get hit by the hurrican - and I'm sorry that you're going to need more surgery:(. I think turning to books is a really smart idea - it's what got me through the worst of my long covid. I hope the coming week is a kinder one, Yvonne:).

  9. Glad the hurricane missed you! Sorry to hear about the surgery, but hope you can find ways to de-stress. Here's my SP:

  11. I'm sorry to hear that you will need more surgery in a few months... hope your books will distract you from thinking about it too much. Glad to hear the hurricane missed you. What a relief!

  12. It's the third day of the month and I still haven't figured out what all I will be reading this month. I feel a little stuck with my current book, I had expected to already have it finished, but my weekend went sideways. I am so sorry you have to have another surgery. I hope you are doing okay and the surgery will be helpful.

  13. Sorry you need more surgery. I am glad the hurricane missed you. We are binge watching Roswell, New Mexico. It is pretty good. XO

  14. Happy to hear you didn't get hit by the storm and I'm glad you're enjoying The Way Home. On Friday, I watched The Beach House, which Andie McDowell starred in. She is indeed so talented! I can relate to how you feel with the anticipation of another surgery. When life gives me plot twists, I don't know how to focus on anything else. This past week I didn't read anything (although I did listen to a book). I'm going to try to do better this week even though I have several appointments scheduled this month. I hope you enjoy a week of good reads. I'll be thinking of you! :)

  15. I do hope your September turns out to be a great month and all goes well.

May you get plenty of reading in while you are resting and recovering from everything.

  16. Glad to hear the hurricane missed you, but bummer about the additional surgery. I pray all goes well and that you get to read some great books.

  17. Ah rats to another surgery. I guess its not what you wanted to hear. I do hope you find books you can sink into. It is helpful when we can, choose ones you really like to read!

  18. I see there are a few Christmas themed books out already. Not sure I'm ready! Have a good week.

  19. I'm glad the hurricane missed you. Weeks filled with doctor's appointments do mess up reading plans. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  20. So many good looking books. Hope you find one that takes you away...:-)

  22. I'm so glad the hurricane missed you but so sorry you're going to have to have more surgery. Hopefully you will have lots of good books to read to distract you. I hope you are having a wonderful week and taking care of yourself.
