Sunday/Monday Posts - July 8th and 9th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now a Facebook group.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews.

Happy Weekend!

For those celebrating July 4th this week I hope you had a great holiday.  I did.  We went into New York City for a couple of days and had the chance to see the Broadway show Beautiful - The Carole King Musical starring Melissa Benoist (aka Supergirl).  It was amazing.  I can't believe the wonderful voice she has.  I've always loved Carole King's music and this brought back so many memories.  We walked around NYC but it really was too hot to do it for too long.  Still, we had a great time.

I finished reading two books which is always good.  Both reviews will be posted later in the month for blog tours.  I haven't been doing much as far as TV viewing goes.  I did finish watching Safe on Netflix.  That was really good.  I don't know if there will be anymore seasons, but I enjoyed what I saw.

It's been a quiet summer so far and that's fine by me.  We're still downsizing and clearing stuff out of the house, but it's time consuming and the very hot, humid weather doesn't help our progress.  But...we'll get there :)

So how was your week?  I hope your upcoming week is a good one.

Yvonne

  1. How fortunate you are to be close enough to the city to enjoy Broadway shows.

I am curious about Somebody's Daughter, as I enjoyed Bring Her Home.

I have Our House and should be reading it soon.

Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.

    1. It's been a long time since I've been to a Broadway show. The last one was Jersey Boys, which was great too. This was even better.

I loved Somebody's Daughter even more than I enjoyed Bring Her Home.

      Thanks for stopping by.

  3. I’m glad you had a good 4th. I’d love to go to New York someday. I’d probably spend most of the trip book shopping, though. We don’t have many bookstores around here.

Aj @ Read All The Things!

  4. I do wonder if I will ever make it to New York City in my lifetime. It does sound like something to see. Downsizing would be a lot of work. I do try to purge from our house a couple of times per year but we still have so much stuff! Enjoy all of your new books and have a great week!

  8. Ooh, look at all those fun cozies! I love Carole King too and the musical sounds wonderful. My summer has been quiet too and I'm also decluttering my house. I have to be careful though or I get carried away. LOL

  9. I was immediately intrigued with The Klepto Cat book. It sounds like it was a fun read. My summer is almost at the end but I really want to work on downsizing and cleaning out the garage and closets. But as you said it has been hot and I honestly just don't want to deal with that lol.

I hope you have a wonderful week!

  12. This summer has been a bit quiet here and other than the weather I'm not ready for it to go! I'll have to try Safe. I'm always looking for new shows. Single Malt Murder looks really good and I'm enjoying Somebody's Daughter though I'm not quite finished that that one yet. Have a great week!

  14. Oh your trip to NYC and the show sounds wonderful and good to know you took a break from book tours. I took a look over at your Audiobook challenge finish - great job. I think my pick from it would be the Denton book The Hurricane Season so must put it in my wish list.
