Sunday/Monday Posts - July 15th and 16th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now a Facebook group.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews.

Happy Weekend!

I hope you are all enjoying your summer.  It alternates between hot/humid and warm/sunny here.  I'll take it :) It beats the winter.  I just love these summer months.

I've been averaging two books a week this summer.  That's good for me.  I usually can only get one book read a week, but I'm not watching too much TV this summer.  I don't mind at all as I'm loving my reading schedule.

I see there are many Christmas/winter books coming out now.  It's so strange to me because my mindset right now are beach reads.  I'm not really in the mood to read a Christmas book at the moment.  I think I'm both a moody and seasonal reader.  There have been times when I've read a summer book during the winter or vice versa.  It's usually because I'm reading a series and the next book happens to come up at that time. Anyway, do you find you're a moody or seasonal reader?  Or doesn't it matter to you and you read whatever you want regardless of the time of year?

I hope you all have a great week and read many great books.

Yvonne

  2. I am not in the mood for Christmas books in the summer! Even the Hallmark Channel is showing Christmas movies...and I know they do this every year, but it's annoying. LOL.

On the other hand, I could read a beach book in winter.

I got Left: A Love Story last week, and I'm eager to read it...and I'll be picking up Our House soon.

Enjoy your reading, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  3. The weather is killer! I am not ready to let go of the warm for the cold weather yet but a nice cool down wouldn't be to bad...wish I lived where it was 70 all the time...lol.

I did grab one Christmas book and started it as I loved the one last year and COYER is doing the Christmas in July readathon this week. It's called Twas the Knife Before Christmas! :) Other than that I am not interested in any other Christmas ones at this time.

You have some good books coming up!

  4. I love the new books this week. I want to read Our House and have that on my list. Yes, I am still in the beach reading mode not the holiday mode yet. That starts around September and the colder months. Have a great week!

  5. I agree. I'd rather have the summer heat than face the winter.

  6. Two books a week seems pretty great. I've been lagging a bit myself this summer, hoping I can pick up the pace at some point. :)

I do kind of think I'm a mood/ seasonal reader, at least at times. Like a Christmas book this time of year- yeah that seems too early. :) And I gravitate towards thrillers in the fall, etc.

Single Malt Murder looks pretty good. :)

  7. I think I vary more by genre than season. But I don't really want to read Christmas books in the summer, more in December. So I don't know if I will read one for COYER this week or not. There's the HoHo Readathon in December which I might prefer for them. I used to watch a lot of tv and haven't for many years now. Enjoy your reading this week! Anne - Books of My Heart

  9. I keep meaning to try Rhys Bowen. And some of your other books are tempting me too. It's been hot and humid here too and not even the hottest part of summer yet. Like you, I'll take it over winter anytime:)

  10. I actually started a cozy Christmas book. In my defense, Stormi enjoying it so much highly swayed me and I did like the first one last year. It's such a fun little town. It's been really hot and humid here which I don't like. I need to find somewhere where it is fall and spring all year round.

  11. I’m not usually a mood reader, but I can’t imagine reading a Christmas book right now. It’s too hot! Reading about snow would just make me cranky. Have a good week!

  12. I haven't seen any Christmas books around yet although I think I have accepted a couple for later in the year to review. But its the same with clothes, summer things will come out in the shop when we are still in the middle of winter. But.. the good thing is sales come along just when clothes are needed!

  13. It's incredibly muggy here. I'm not a fan of humidity. Great job on keeping your focus on reading. I read so much less now than I used to once upon a time. I miss it...

    Happy Reading!

  14. I don't usually like the holiday themed books so I tend to skip them. I'm finally home from an eight day trip. My weekly updates

  15. I'm struggling with the volume of Christmas books cropping up now... It's like, it's SUMMER people! Give me a few months. But oh well. :(
