Sunday/Monday Posts - September 28th and 29th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now a Facebook group.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews

Happy Sunday and Monday!

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend.  I am :)  I'm not doing anything special but just doing stuff around the house, blogging, reading and catching up on TV.

I'm loving all these TV shows - both new and returning ones.  I'm still watching Survivor and they are already off to another great season.  I watched four new shows so far  - Gotham, NCIS: New Orleans, Madam Secretary and the Mysteries of Laura.  I've seen the first two episodes of Laura, so far.  I liked the first, but was lukewarm about the second.  I'm not sure I'll continue.  I'll have to watch another episode.  Gotham hooked me right in.  I hope the next episode is just as good.  I, also, liked NCIS: New Orleans and Madam Secretary.  Everything else is on my DVR waiting for me.

Returning shows I've watched, so far:  NCIS, The Blacklist, The Good Wife, Survivor,  and Person of Interest.  All had great season premieres.

A question for all you reviewers...for those of you that have other reviewers on your blog, does that help you with all your review requests?  How do you get other reviewers?  I'm deciding if I should go that route.  With my new job, I just don't have time to review all the requests I get.  I've already cut back on blog tours, but still have a lot of reviews to be done.  I'm still working on my juggling act with my new job so I was just wondering how those of you with teams of reviewers work it.

Other than that, things are status quo here.  How has your week been?

Yvonne

  1. I hope you are enjoying Whiskey Beach....I am loving the new season, too, and loved Madam Secretary, followed by The Good Wife.

Thanks for visiting my blog...and enjoy the new week (and the new month).

    1. Whiskey Beach is good. My only problem is that I only listen to audio books during my commute to and from work. So, it takes a bit longer than usual to finish a book.

I just wish Madam Secretary and The Good Wife were on another night - football always delays them and it messes up my DVR recordings.

      Thanks for stopping by.

  2. I just got peeps I know. But if you do, keep a close eye on them. I had trouble with one who said she would review, and I had a day for her, and then she was busy, left me in a pickle

    1. That's the thing that's stopping me from adding reviewers - I don't want to have to watch over and be a babysitter. However, that's what would end up happening, I think. If I just do the reviews myself, I only have myself to yell at :) It's happened :)

      Thanks for stopping by.

  3. Sounds like a good weekend, just hanging out. We had several shows we wanted to start watching and missed most of the premieres, so we're behind already. Glad to hear Gotham was good though...

  4. Sounds like a nice weekend! I'm behind on my show watching and haven't had time to watch most of the new ones but I'm excited. I've got a DJ Donaldson coming up and I'm really looking forward to reading it. I love books set in New Orleans. Good luck with finding another reviewer or deciding what to do! Have a great week!

  5. I'm into the new tv season as well. I like Madam Secretary and plan to continue watching. Wasn't able to see "Laura" when it premiered, but am planning to catch it on demand. Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder are on my DVR.

We have the same approach to audio books -- I too only listen while commuting or running errands, unless it conflicts with an NPR program I want to listen to.

    Happy reading and viewing!

  6. I liked Madam Secretary, the new NCIS was predictable but decent, I'm watching How To Get Away With Murder now, and tonight is Once Upon A Time! WOO!

As for associate bloggers, it really can be hit or miss. I'd start by looking at people you know. Both of mine are people I knew before I started blogging and we often talked books. I'm the only one who blogs consistently but they are on different schedules than I am.

  7. I watched Gothem with half my attention on it, but it seemed really good. Hope you have a great week.

  8. I love that shows are returning there cos that means we'll get some of them soon. (We're always behind in Australia. We used to wait months or years but now - because of the internet and pirated copies of stuff - TV execs are forced to bring us stuff sooner.) I'm a Person of Interest fan so looking forward to that one!

PS. I haven't used guest posters. It's the writing that I enjoy so I'd hate to give that up!

  9. Lost Under a Ladder looks so cute!
We aren't big TV watches but I usually like NCIS. The one we watched this week seemed to have a lot of improbable holes.
I haven't even had time to do interviews or guest posts this year. I have occasionally thought it would be lovely to be in a group blog. It would just take finding compatible people I think.

    1. Oops - DH came by and distracted me before I wished you a Happy Reading week. :-)

  10. It has been such great weather here that we have not watched any of the new shows we DVR'd. I can't offer any advice about associate/guest bloggers. A couple of years ago I reduced the number of books that I accepted for review to only two scheduled a month, the others I receive have no set post date. It is more enjoyable if there is no pressure. Have a great week.

  11. I don't have much time to read this past couple of weeks because of job too but I'm not considering getting a co-reviewer. Perhaps I feel that my blog is somehow personal. Well, it's just me. If you still want to have one, perhaps you could ask a friend :)

  12. The Good Wife is the only TV show I am familiar with and I don't miss it for anything! I hate to be interrupted when I am watching this one.
Like the cover of your Lucky Dog book! cute.

  13. I haven't caught any of the new TV shows yet. Now that baseball season is over for me (Poor Braves!), I might have more time to watch. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  17. Yvonne, it sounds like you had a relaxing weekend.
I've have only had one guest review, but I do have guest posts from time to time. You can only read and review so much. Best of luck with your new job!
