Sunday/Monday Posts - November 2nd and 3rd

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now a Facebook group.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews

Happy Sunday and Monday!

Okay, so October has come and gone.  Now we're up to November, which means 2014 is almost over.  Time is more than just flying by and the weather is turning colder.

My blog is hopping, although I plan to do less hopping in 2015 but we'll see how that goes.  For now, I'm just re-thinking the reading challenges and which ones I will be hosting next year.  I'm going to continue hosting my cozy and animal reading challenges.  I'm on the fence about the Finishing the Series challenge.  I do love series, but I'm not sure if I want to host it again.  We'll see.  I do know that I will be limiting the number of reading challenges I join next year.  I always get carried away and they all sound so tempting.  I end up joining way more than I should, but I have to stop that and be a bit more realistic.  Hosting 2 or 3 should be fine, but I think I'll be only joining 2 or 3 others.  That would be more doable.

I'm already limiting the number of blog tours I participate in.  Most likely it will be no more than two a month.  I have to be strict with myself and have will power.  LOL

I love reading cozies and romances at this time of year.  They are so festive.  Hopefully, I'll get a chance to read many good ones.  They are all waiting patiently for me :)

I hope you all have a great week and read many great books.

Yvonne

  1. Will power - I have none, could you share? :D

I hope you continue hosting the Finish the Series; I already have several series picked out that I still need to catch up on. :D

Chorus Lines, Caviar, and Corpses looks interesting, will you be reviewing it? God luck paring back the tours, etc. That can be a challenge all by itself.

    1. Well, we'll have to see if I actually have will power first before I can share :)

I'm leaning towards continuing the series challenge. I have a couple more to catch up with too.

Yes, I will be reviewing Chorus Lines, Caviar, and Corpses. I've read the first couple of chapters so far and I can already see this is going to be good.

  2. I did give up on challenges, it's more free for me this way. I just try to keep things in mind, like read more old books

    1. I like your way of doing things.

Although, my reading does fit the challenges. I'm not changing what I'm reading. It's more like the reviews and link ups just take too much time. There are times I wouldn't bother reviewing a book, but I did because of a reading challenge.

I like to keep things in mind, too. For me, I like to read holiday or winter themed books between November and January, but it's not a challenge. Just something I want to do.

  3. I always have good intentions of not over-extending myself but fall victim to the "it sounds so good" syndrome. Good luck with keeping things in control. I love the title of cozies and should read more. Happy reading!

    1. Oh I'm very familiar with that "it sounds so good" syndrome. It can be deadly. LOL

      Have a great week!

  4. I am trying to downsize my blog but enjoy it more, whatever that means :) I do intend to take less read for review books, and limit challenges and memes. I won't limit my visits to other folks' blogs though; that is the most fun for me! Enjoy your stack of books this week.

    1. I'm definitely taking less review books, too. It's really hard to resist though :)

Hope you have a great week!

  5. I did enjoy participating in the Cozies Challenge a couple of times...and despite my vow not to participate in any challenges, that one might work for me. Cozies are fun....

But no more TBR Challenges, as the few OLD books on my stacks are never getting read and have gone to the Library Collection box.

I want to enjoy reading more....and I may not even do the Goodreads Challenge, even though this year's was easy.

What bugged me most? I have mostly WP blogs and the widget doesn't automatically update there, so I was always having to reenter the code!

Enjoy your week...and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

    1. I like the Goodreads challenge because it keeps track of what I read all year. The challenge widget updates here but, strangely, the other widgets (what I'm reading) won't. I'm going to try to use them again.

I'm not going to sign up for the TBR challenges either as I never get anywhere with those.

      Have a great week.

    1. James Patterson has been a favorite of mine for years. I used to read everything as soon as they came out. Although, I haven't read the Alex Cross series. I think it's because there are so many of them when I discovered Patterson.

      Have a great week!

  7. I only join a few challenges, since I host Take Control and Clean Sweep. Maybe you could turn the finish series into just a month long challenge.

    1. Most likely I'll keep the series challenge as it is. I just won't be joining so many.

      Have a great week.

  8. I love my cozies. I'm reading Caviar right now and just finished By Cook or By Crook and Kicked to the Curb. Got a few more to read too.
I'm also going to cut back on tours next year. I need to focus more on reviewing and working with authors. I will be doing some so I can share the books, but not as many as this year.

  9. I'm trying to limit the number of review books I take on since I tend to get a little enthusiastic with NetGalley. I've enjoyed another Vallere book so I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of this series! Have a great week!

  10. I've been reading cozies and mysteries too lately... Suede to Rest And Chorus Line both have nice covers, like those. :) Good luck with the reorganizing, and have a nice weekend.

  12. That cover for Dust Bunnies and Dead Bodies looks SO cute. I'd buy / read it on that basis alone!

  17. I hear you on the "too many challenges" thing! I'm going to try to cut back next year too. I'm also considering cutting way back on ARCs and focusing on my TBR list/pile. I've got a ton of books I want to read that I haven't had time for.
