Booking through Thursday - Favorite Recent Read

This week's question...

What’s the best book you’ve read recently?
(Tell me you didn’t see this one coming?)

This is a harder question than it looks...from the recent reads, I'm going to pick The Summerhouse by Jude Deveraux. I loved this one and it gave me a chance to read an author I haven't read in many, many years. In the early days of my romance reading, I read everything by Deveraux. Then, my reading tastes changed and new authors appeared and I was distracted. I still bought Deveraux's books, but they languished in my ever-growing TBR. I decided to read The Summerhouse because it fit in with one of the challenges I'm doing and...well... it's summer :) I love reading books that are in the same season I'm in.

This isn't to say I haven't read other books recently that I've loved such as The Beach Club, The Lie, Nantucket Nights...but I'd say The Summerhouse would be my favorite.

What's your favorite recent read?

  1. I've never read anything by Jude Deveraux, but Summerhouse sounds great! I'm putting it on my TBR list right now. And Nantucket Nights, too - just because of the wonderful title.

  2. I've read this, and though I have to say that most of her recent contemporary works aren't as enjoyable for me as compared to her historical works, I enjoyed this book as well. There's a new one too, Return to Summerhouse. I might check that out. Here's mine. Cheers!

  3. How about Beach House by Nancy Thayer set on Nanucket. That is a great book.

  4. Joy - Both books were good...I'd say Nantucket Nights would be a close 2nd as my recent favorite.

Kat - I have Return to Summerhouse - now to find the time to read it :)

Kaye - The Thayer book is on my wishlist. I love her work, too.

  5. I don't believe I have ever read one of hers, but certainly heard of her. I need a summer title as well for The Four Month Challenge.
    Mine is up.
    The Burton Review.

  6. The Summerhouse is one that I have thought about reading for some time now.

It was hard for me to pick just one, so I did a top five :) Here's my BTT.

  7. I got a Jude Deveraux book on my TBR pile. Will get around it soon.

  8. I have always been a fan of Jude Deveraux. I recently finished her newest one Lavender Morning (it was good).

  9. We often read to how we're feeling at the moment, don't we?
I'm late this week. You'll find mine here.

  10. I haven't read anything by this author, I'll check it out one day :)
