The Weekend Review - June 24-26th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

It's been hot and rainy in Florida this week.  It's supposed to be really humid this weekend.  That's the tropics for you :)

I only finished one book this week. The one book I did read is part of a favorite series of mine and it was so good.   I'm not sure why I only read one book, though.  It's not even like I'm watching much TV.  I'm not binging on anything right now.  I did watch The Blacklist and Strange New Worlds, but those are released weekly, and I only watched one episode of each this week.  Oh well, maybe next week will be better.

I haven't really been up to very much this week.  How has your week been?  Watching or reading anything interesting?  Hope you all have a great upcoming week.

Nothing scheduled!

Posts last week:

I'm currently reading...

I finished reading ...

These are the books I'm hoping to read for the rest of June, but since we are approaching the last week of June, I'm guessing these (or at least a couple of them) will carry over to July.

Here are this week's Kindle freebie haul. They were freebies when I got them, I don't know if they still are. Always make sure to check they are still free before buying. The prices change quickly.

  1. It was really hot this week, almost felt like Florida! And I've been watching The Silo, that's quite fun!

  2. I'm not sure what I've been doing with my time lately either, but it hasn't been reading, and that's frustrating. After several disappointing light reads, I decided to read Barbara Kingsolver's latest, and I'll be darned if I didn't figure out what was going to happen and where it was going to happen before it happened!

It's hot and humid here, too, so let's blame our book troubles on those factors, shall we?

  4. It's been hot here in the UK, too. With hardly any rain for nearly 2 months - which is a bit worrying!! I love the cover for Genies and Gibberish and hope you enjoy your upcoming reads, Yvonne:).

  5. I’m waiting for there to be three episodes of Strange Worlds, cause watching one is just not enough!

Wishing you a happy reading week, stay cool!

  6. I think it gets hard to focus on much of anything when temps and humidity get so high. Hope you have a good week ahead!

  7. One book in a week is considered a good week for me! I think we all have other things that take time, even if we don't realize it. Glad that one book you read was a good one! Have a great week. :-)

  8. I'm binge-watching Suits on Netflix. I decided to give it a try and I was shocked how good it is. Now I can't stop. I hope you enjoy your book haul! Here's my SP: https://bonniereadsandwrites.com/2023/06/25/sunday-post-lots-of-cabbage/

  9. It is definitely starting to heat up and get steamy. I have weeks where I'm low energy, too. Hope you're able to get to the other books on your stack. Fun feline covers on your books.

    Have a good week, Yvonne!

  10. It's hot here in south Lousiana, too. Our swamps are like yours and so is our weather.

Some weeks are just busy and we can't quite remember why when it's over, but stuff got done and there you are!

  11. I haven't seen Strange Worlds, I'll have to check to see what it's about.

I do not like the humidity in Florida at all!

  12. Looks like you have some fun books. Yeah, I'm with you on the Florida weather, but I still love living here. We spent some time in the pool today. I haven't watched Strange Worlds, but I have sen it around. Maybe I'll give it a go.

  14. My reading has been a bit all over the place lately. Not sure if it's the heat or the fact that the month of June has felt like it was on fast forward. I'm reading Hiss Me Deadly now and really enjoying it. Have a great week!

  15. We had some rain this weekend and it made it so humid. It's hard to feel like doing much in this weather.

To Charm a Scarred Cowboy looks good. Hope you enjoy your books.

  16. One book that works out really well for a reader and its the only book - I say that's a win for reading.

  17. We've had warm days here too (for values of warm in Northern Minnesota). It is good that your book was one you enjoyed. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  20. It's definitely heating up here. I have to look at the weather to see which days will be cooler and have North winds for doing bigger yard stuff. Luckily being between the mountains and coast, we don't seem to get as extreme temps or humidity. I still set little goals of things to get finished each day, pieces of bigger projects too.
