Cruisin' Thru the Cozies Reading Challenge 2014

Welcome to the fourth annual Cruisin' thru the Cozies Reading Challenge! I'm still loving the cozies and this is one of the few challenges I plan to continue hosting.

To find out exactly what a cozy mystery is, check out Cozy-Mystery.com. This site is dedicated to cozy mysteries and does a great job of defining them as well as giving a list of cozy mysteries. This challenge is NOT restricted to what is on their list, it's just to be used as a guideline in case you need some hints on what to read.

So, here are the rules...

1. Choose the level you wish to participate:

Level 1 - Snoop - Read at least 6 books

Level 2 - Investigator - Read 7-12 books

Level 3 - Super Sleuth - Read 13 or more books

****AMENDED: LEVEL 3 - SUPER SLEUTH - READ 13-20 BOOKS

LEVEL 4 - Sleuth Extraordinaire - Read 20 or more

2. The challenge runs from January 1, 2014 and ends December 31, 2014.

3. You don't have to choose your books in advance. If you do, you can change your list at any time during the year. Books can overlap with other challenges.

4. Books can be in any format - paper, audio, ebooks...it all counts!

5. You don't have to post a review, but I'm sure others would love to know about the books you are reading and may even want to add it to their reading lists.

NOTE: If you don't have a blog and want to participate, that's fine. You don't have to have a blog, just post in the comments section as you finish books. If you belong to a site like Goodreads and review the books there, that's fine too. Just leave us the link.  I also have a group for this challenge on Goodreads and you can sign up by clicking here.

6. Take the button above, put it on your blog and post about the challenge. Then add your name to Mr. Linky below. Please use the link of your challenge post, not the link to your home page.

7. I'm going to have one link for signing up, one link for completed reviews and one link for your wrap up posts. I won't be having a monthly link, just one for all reviews read for this challenge.

Have fun!

  5. Hi, I mistakenly posted my blog link to the completed challenge list. Can you please remove it? I loved this challenge last time and am eager to do it again.

  6. I just found this challenge, and it sounds great--I'm a huge cozy mystery fan (although I love almost any kind of mystery!). Do we have to choose a level to begin and stick to it, or can we change it during the year to a higher level? Thanks for hosting this challenge!

  11. Can you change levels during the year...say I choose conservatively and go for Level 1-Snoop, then find I'm finishing up my 6th book in March?

    ReplyDelete
  12. You can change if you are going to go to a higher level, but you shouldn't go down.

  24. I was wondering, are we supposed to add a comment after each book review we post? I've already left a comment after signing up for the challenge, and just posted my first review. Thanks.

    1. No, you don't have to comment after each book you review. Just post the link to your review, the way you did. That's fine.

  25. My first link is correct too but the name is NOT. Please do remove it!

  29. Just found out about the 2014 CHALLENGE!! Very exciting to be joining all you cozy lovers out there! I'm a voracious reader and gobbled up 129 titles last year!! I just started #15 today - 'While My Pretty One Knits' by Anne Canadeo -- the 1st in the Black Sheep Knitting mystery series, circa 2009.. LET THE READING BEGIN!!!!

  30. Just stumbled on this challenge and it looks perfect for me! I'm a little late to the fun but hopefully not too late. Can't wait to read all the other cozy reviews!

  31. Oops! Just noticed I put my Murder with Peacocks in the wrong linky. Should have been a review and not a wrap-up. I don't see a way to delete it, so if you can and want to??? Thanks and sorry! Guess I was in too much of a hurry that day....

    ReplyDelete
  32. Sorry, I ended up posting my wrap up link twice. Please delete one. Thanks. And thanks for providing this challenge, I've enjoyed it!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Whoo-hoo! Six already, and it's only March! I'm enjoying everyone's reviews, too - I always find a few new series from this challenge.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Can you believe it is nearly the end of March and I just linked up my first review? *SHEESH* (Book was read, reviewed and posted on my blog back in January.) Can I plead temporary ... forgetfulness? :O)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Thank you again for hosting this, Yvonne! I'm up to 9 reviews already, and having great fun!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I am quite new to this challenge and this is the first time I have looked at this blog. Is it necessary to have a blog in order to add a link to my reviews etc to the lists here? It would appear so.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Hi Susan, Welcome! No, you do not have to have a blog to link up. You can link up to your Goodreads shelf, if you'd like. There's a paragraph above, in the directions, that says what to do if you don't have a blog. We're glad to have you join us!

  37. Hi Socrates, are you receiving my links? I have three.

  38. Yvonne, thanks for alerting me. I think the link is fixed now. If you have any trouble, let me know. I'm sorry to take up so much time. Thanks for giving the challenge too.

  39. Just linked up A Killing Notion by Melissa Bourbon. It's actually #16 on my challenge list, but I've got to get up some reviews of books 2-5 of Avery Aames' Cheese Shop Mysteries. Looking over things, I may have to bump myself up to then next level. :O)

  40. Socrates, thanks for being so helpful. Your instructions are simple. I just get nervous or something with links. (:

    ReplyDelete
  41. I've moved up to the Super Sleuth level....still reading.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hi Socrates, you've been so nice. I'm having so much trouble with the links. I'm going to bow out. I haven't wasted time. I like and would have read the cozies anyway. Thanks for giving the Cruisin' Through The Cozies challenge. We'll see each other around on the blogs.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I have really had fun and learned so much.

  44. Yvonne, I accidentally added one of my mystery reviews (Of Merlot and Murder) to the Wrap-Up Post linkup. I'm sorry - is there any way you can delete it? After I realized my mistake, I added it to the Reviews linkup as well, so it's in the right place - it's just also in the wrong place. Thanks, and my apologies.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting my blog! I always love reading comments and getting to know my readers!

After some careful consideration, I've decided to become an award-free blog. Although I appreciate and am honored by each and every award I've received, your comments and friendship are enough award for me. Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness.

Due to way too many spam comments, I disabled the Anonymous User comments. We'll see if this works, otherwise I'll have to go back to word verification.
