The Weekend Review - January 23rd-25th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews.

Hi Everyone!

This was an exciting week in the US with the inauguration.  I admit to being glued to my TV for all the ceremonies.  From now on, I don't expect to be so addicted to the news anymore.  At least I hope I won't be.

I did manage to read two books.  So far, this year, my books have all been good ones.  No five kitty books yet, but there's one coming up soon.  I'm just happy to be reading more this year, so far.

I've even managed to watch a few TV shows.  I'm so happy to have back The Blacklist, 911, and 911 Lonestar.  All were very good this week.  I finished the first season of Snowpiercer.  I was glad to get that finished before the new season starts next week.  Has anyone watched Your Honor on Showtime?  It stars Bryan Cranston and it's really good.

Not too much has been happening here, except my shoulder started giving me problems.  I'm having so much pain in it.  It's my right one and I'm a righty so it's making things a bit difficult but hopefully it will go away as quickly as it came.

Other than that, it's been quiet.  How has it been in your corner of the world?  Anything exciting going on?  Read any good books or see any good shows lately?  I hope everyone has a great week.  Stay safe!

  1. Hopefully the news will be much calmer on the Presidential front from here on out. With the impeachment trial coming up in February though, I imagine we'll be hearing a certain someone's name a lot more than we want to for awhile yet. The Inauguration was such a breath of fresh air. A taste of hope again.

I watched both 9-1-1 shows today and am all caught up again. I was surprised and glad they didn't ignore the pandemic and wrote that into the shows.

I hope your shoulder feels better soon, Yvonne. I know how difficult that can be.

Have a good week and happy reading!

  2. It's amazing how things have calmed down since the inauguration. I'm sure there's still a lot of anger on the right over things, but it seems like de- platforming Trump cooled the rage a bit. Or maybe we're just not hearing it. At any rate, the inauguration felt refreshing!

I hope you're feeling better soon!

Sorry to hear about your shoulder, I hope it get's better soon! I'm also not even almost done with 5 kitty books. Busy reading one at least.

Take care of yourself and I hope you will have a good week!

  4. I didn't know about Bryan Cranston's new show, thanks, I've been loving this actor ever since he played Malcolm's dad. I'm glad you read good books, I just had two DNFs this week. Take care of your shoulder, these kinds of pains we tend to overlook but can remain for a long time if we don't remedy it. Have a great week :)

  5. I had been deeply worried about our country for so long. The beautiful inauguration has filled me with hope for moving forward again.

I'm glad you have been able to read some good books this year. That's wonderful.

I had a year-long bout with frozen shoulder. Yoga was advised, and it helped me get back to normal. I hope that works for you.

    Have a great week, Yvonne!

  7. There is such relief knowing an adult is in charge!
I wasn’t too impressed with Lone Star, despite the eye candy that is Rob Lowe, but I might give season 2 a go anyway.

Wishing you a great reading week

  13. I also spent all of Wednesday enjoying the Inauguration! I'm a news junkie so I don't think that will change, but at least it hopefully won't be so anxiety-inducing now! - Melinda @ A Web of Stories
